Nutrition facts for banana

Let's start with facts and popular question How many calories in a banana. Very often I read on the internet comments that a banana contains a lot of calories and a lot of sugar and I think the answer is different and slightly more complicated. Medium sized banana contains about 5% RDA for calories which is rather low or even very low. 5% of RDA means that you would have to eat 20 bananas a day to get 100% of RDA for calories, obviously no one will eat only 20 bananas a day regularly and nothing else. So I believe you should not worry about calories in a banana at all, it is very minimal and other benefits will definitely outweight the calories intake.

Regarding sugar a medium sized banana contains about 20% RDA of Carbohydrate (sugar is part of them) which is rather moderate amount but bear in mind this is natural so it is not "sweets". This is important because sugar from a banana is released much slower and provides energy that is needed for you body to function properly for instance breathing requires energy that comes from Carbohydrates, you wouldn't want to keep body energy at a level that allows only your body just to breathe? You need sugar but natural one…sweets does not equal "good energy" you need energy that is release gradually. Bananas do contain 20% of RDA which is rather amount for a natural product (exluding sweets) that means if you eat healthy 2-3 banana a day would give you 40-60% RDA for carbohydrate and if you consume other natural products you have a chance of getting 100% RDA for sugar. If you eat unhealthy exceeding 100% RDA for sugar is very easy.

A banana has "a lot" (20%) of good sugar = energy so they are recommended for breakfast as they will "charge" your body for a few ours and they will do it gradually which is what you want. This energy will help you with your daily physical or intellectual activies.

Bananas are used to help people with ulcers and asthma. Certain research also indicates that they help to reduce slightly blood pressure. Bananas are also very rich in other nutrition which makes them excellent choice for snacks.
I think you can forget about calories in banana as it is only about 5% RDA but that doesn't tell you how many bananas you should eat a day and although that varies from person to person I think the sentence below is a very good guide:

A banana a day keeps the doctor away
